The world spreads fear and anxiety faster than the coronavirus. But God didn't give you a spirit of fear: the Lord designed you to have a Spirit of Peace, a Spirit of Joy, and a Spirit of Love. Step out of this present darkness and into His marvelous light using 7 powerful practices that guarantee spiritual growth so you can become everything God designed you to be.
The prodigal daughter, I spent nearly two decades moving away from God. When I did come home, I came as a hypocrite, cleaning up my language just long enough to get through the chore of church each week. Yet His Spirit was faithful even then.
In 2018, I found myself suddenly surrounded by godly men and women who spouted off Biblical names like Annanias and Sephira and Eleazar as if I was supposed to know who all those people were! Clearly, I needed to up my game, and not just because I didn't like being the least knowledgeable person in the room. God was speaking to me, calling me, and I began to crave the Spirit that was so clearly moving in the men and women of God around me. I began asking, how can I have what they have? How can I become a godly Christian woman? My journey to becoming exactly who God designed me to be had begun.
I believe in the Word, the whole Word, and nothing but the Word. God's truth through the Bible - 66 books with one true Author - is my ultimate authority. Jesus is fully God and fully man; He died to pay for my sins; He was buried; He rose again on the third day; and He's coming back to establish His kingdom here on earth, all as the Word of God teaches. I take the Bible seriously regarding everything from the beginning of creation to the end of the world, as the authors and the Author did.
I would never have experienced significant spiritual growth or learned much about our Bible without godly Christian teachers. We should always evaluate teachers based on the fruit they produce and their adherence to the Word, the whole Word, and nothing but the Word. My favorite teachers and I vary on how to interpret difficult scripture, but one thing we should never vary on is believing that the Word of God is 100% true and that we should take the Word seriously.
